Welcome to Class 2

Welcome to Class 2

Class 2 is a happy, friendly and hard working group of children.  Whilst Miss Shutter is on maternity leave, we are being taught by Mrs Bailey.

There are currently 29 children in our class – 15 Year 2 children and 14 Year 1 children.  We like to help each other with our learning and have a new talking partner each term for support.  We also know how important it is to look after our classroom and resources so each of us has a special job to do to keep our room looking clean and tidy!

We enjoy trying new challenges and experiences in Class 2 and get to do lots of different activities across the curriculum.  We regularly have visitors and specialist coaches come in to work with us and we also go out on trips each year.

Our Golden Rules are very important to us.  We celebrate Golden Time each week for all the children who have respected the rules every day.  We also earn marbles as a whole class and get to choose a special reward at the end of each term if we achieve our target.

Homework in Class 2

Children in Class 2 are expected to read every day and then get their reading record signed by an adult.  They are also encouraged to access their Reading Eggs online account (login details are in the front of their reading records) as often as possible.

All Year 1 and Year 2 children receive weekly spellings which are based around our school schemes of work.  Spellings are tested every Friday.

Every child has a DoodleMaths account (login details are in the front of their reading records).  Mrs Bailey regularly sets activities for the children to complete linked to the learning they have been doing in school.

In addition, Class 2 children receive an extended homework challenge each term.  This is related to our wider curriculum and encourages the children to explore interests they may have in other areas such as: history, geography, art and design technology.  The children share their learning with the rest of the class at the end of each term and then it is displayed in the classroom.
