Collective Worship

We hold a daily assembly which is broadly Christian in character and comprises of a welcome, a Bible story or other relevant story, or sometimes another focus which serves to illustrate the value we are trying to promote, a prayer and period of contemplation and a response before finishing. These may be conducted by the Headteacher, a member of staff, the children or sometimes a visiting speaker.

Every other Friday at 2.45pm we have a whole school assembly in the Village Memorial Hall, to share and celebrate the week. Parents and friends have an open invitation to join us for this, and see their children show their work. Please check the school calendar on the website for when we are holding our assemblies.

We have assemblies at St John’s church throughout the year at the major Christian festivals and also a worship once a term in the morning to recognise seasons such as Lent and Whitsun.

Our Collective Worship time table is as follows:

Monday: Classes 1 and 2 - 'Something to Think About'; Classes 3 and 4 - Separate Class Assemblies

Tuesday: Whole School Worship led by a member of staff on our Christian Value of the term

Wednesday: Classes 1 and 2 - Bible Assembly; Classes 3 and 4 - Singing Worship

Thursday: Classes 1 and 2 - Singing Worship; Classes 3 and 4 - Current Affairs Assembly

Friday: Whole School Celebration Assembly in the Memorial Hall or class assembly.
